Music
Welcome to our Music journey, where creativity, confidence and a lifelong love of music grow from EYFS to Year 6.
In EYFS, children explore music through Expressive Arts and Design—singing songs, experimenting with instruments, moving to music and discovering rhythm, pulse and sound through play and practical experiences.
As they progress, learning is carefully sequenced to build musical knowledge and skills step by step. Children develop their understanding of pulse, rhythm, pitch, dynamics and notation while listening, performing, composing and appraising a wide range of music. Each unit builds on prior learning, enabling children to make meaningful connections between musical concepts, genres, cultu
res and historical periods.
res and historical periods.
Across the school, music is taught through a practical, engaging and inclusive approach. Children sing regularly, play tuned and untuned instruments, compose their own music and perform with increasing confidence. Through high-quality lessons, performances, enrichment opportunities and our partnership with iRock School of Music, children experience the joy of making music together, develop their musical skills and gain the confidence to express themselves creatively both in and beyond the classroom.
